Interview with Peter Tatchell: “Change happens when enough people decide we have had enough.”

Peter Tatchell is a director of the Peter Tatchell Foundation, a member of the Green Party of England and Wales and a renowned human rights campaigner and activist.

La Chat was lucky enough to have him as a guest speaker in an engaging assembly about the history of LGBT rights.

Peter Tatchell is well known for his comments on the issue of the age of consent. He advocates the lowering of the age of consent to 14, as he believes that criminalising sexual behaviour under the age of 16 is wrong. He was grossly misrepresented by the press, leading to comments calling him a pedophile. He clarifies his stance in another video.

He’s also involved with many other issues, such as the issue of the right to freedom of expression. As a member of the LGBT rights group Outrage! he has opposed the work of music with homophobic lyrics of primarily Jamaican musicians. He explains his involvement with the issue in this interview.
