Committees news:

The dance committee organised two discos, with the help of their devoted committee members and other committees, such as the Music and Media & Tech Committees. They were themed Hollywood and winter formal, for the Yrs 7,8 and 9. They also helped out with the India team’s Winter Wonderland disco. The pictures are on their facebook page, “Dance Committee La Chat“, so go check those out!

The media and tech committee have been spending this term taking videos and photos for many other events such as music performances, or the recent PJ day (the photos from PJ day below)! They’ll also be documenting the Fashion Show, Kermesse and Bal des Neiges so you’ll be seeing a lot more photos soon!

The entertainment committee has been hard at work rehearsing the fashion show, which will be taking place March 4th in the Old Sports Hall (Vaud), times will be announced closer to the date! They will be selling tickets the week of, and at the door (also VIP tickets are available.)

The Green Committee are planning Green Week, 3rd-7th April, and the Green Leaf Festival will be the 7th of that week! If you’re interested in performing in helping out, please email one of the heads of Green (Lily Slater, Laura Rigby, Iain MacDiarmid, Rose Maginnis) or Music (Cameron Weston, Rohan Cardoza, James Allen).

STUCO:

As for us, we’ve been busy organising the Bal Des Neiges with the other campuses, attending meetings and listening to what you guys want to see change! Our fortnightly meetings with Mme Conchard, Mrs Jacobson and Mr Woods ensure we are continuously getting things done for you all.

We’ve attended the PTA meetings as often as possible, including the meeting where money was allocated to grant applicants. This is where the money raised from the Kermesse is donated to students/teachers who’ve applied for a grant, with a brief description of why. This year, the total of 11,575 CHF was allocated to a Jazz singing workshop, Green Week, Well-Being week, the Winter Bike check initiative, sorties théâtre, a digital microscope, chess clocks and the Speakers programme led by Mr. Deighan. This year the PTA is hoping to raise more money and encourage you to apply for grants if there’s an initiative you want to start. Please email us if you’re interested.

We’ve heard a lot of demand for more spirit days and are working closely with the Spirit Committee to organise some for you (at least once a month), including last Friday’s PJ day. If you have any spirit days you’re dying to have, let us know!

We’re also organising a French Film night (showing “Les Intouchables”) on the Friday 24th Feb for years 7/8/9! Tickets will be 2 CHF, and food and drinks will be sold to help raise money for the “la Fondation Miracles”, which donates prosthetic limbs to those who can’t afford them. Bring your PJs and you can change into them to enjoy a fun movie evening (from 15h30-17h30) after school that Friday!

We just had meetings with class reps and year reps and lots of interesting ideas came up. We have brought these to staff and many of them have been approved. We look forward to the next ones where we will be able to meet even more of you and hear about your wonderful ideas!
