CAS Project: SOS Gex Animal Shelter

article by Charlotte Tibi, Clara Noonan Montagut and Matilda Llopart Sigerud for their IB CAS Project

On a semi-abandoned road in Gex, past some quiet neighbourhoods, is tucked away SOS Animaux – Pays de Gex. This cat and dog shelter may seem a little foreboding from the path outside, yet inside resides some of the sweetest shelter cats and dogs I’ve had the pleasure of meeting. Whether it be cleaning the cat rooms, or getting to know some of the new dogs, volunteering at SOS Gex has been an immensely fulfilling and special experience.

However, it also broke my heart to see so many newcomers introduced to the shelter every week. Despite the best efforts of the doctors and volunteers of SOS Gex, many pets are abandoned each week, and their space and resources are limited. So if you’re looking for a new furry friend with lots of character, or if you want to donate unused blankets, toys, unopened pet food, or even money, SOS Gex has lots of options for you.

You can contact them through their phone number “04 50 41 74 80” or donate through their website at https://www.sosanimauxpaysdegex.com/refuge-pays-de-gex/faire-un-don.html.
