Harry Styles’ New Music Videos: Which One is the Best?

Emma Rassi (Y8)

Now that I have already reviewed the entire Kiss All the Time. Disco, occasionally, album, I thought I was finally done writing about this era. But then Harry went ahead and dropped three massive music videos, and I just couldn’t stop myself. Each video feels like stepping directly onto a different Hollywood movie set. Honestly, the choreography across all of these clips is so amazing that I seriously hope he uses these exact dance routines on his upcoming tour.

Aperture

This video is completely different from Harry’s older, sunnier music videos. It opens in the quiet, creepy hallways of an old hotel full of dark shadows. Suddenly, the pace picks up, and Harry is sprinting down hallways and leaping onto escalators while being chased by a mysterious stranger.

Then out of nowhere, the tension breaks and Harry launches into a beautiful, perfectly synchronized dance routine. The stranger even lifts Harry high into the air during the song’s biggest musical point. It is dramatic, beautifully shot, and proves Harry can act.

Dance No More

If you love rhythm and dancing, this video is incredible to watch. It trades the empty hotel halls for a tightly packed room filled with neon lights. It starts as a small concert in a gym, and then, before you know it, the second the heavy disco bass drops, the crowd transforms into a giant flash mob. Led by Harry in a pair of bright red shorts, the dancers do all kinds of weird, high-energy moves. The camera spins right through the crowd, capturing non-stop motion and flashing disco lights. It looks incredible yet completely exhausting to film, but the energy is infectious and would look unbelievable live on stage (and I really hope the tour captures the same vibe). And of course, in the middle of all the dancers, we see Harry being the goofball we all know and love.

American Girls

This is the by far biggest and most expensive video Harry has ever made. It starts in the middle of fast car chases and explosions in the desert. Harry plays an action hero running for his life. Old cars crash into each other, and huge explosions happen right behind him. He even drives his car straight under a moving semi-truck.

The funny part happens right after each dangerous scene. Every time there is a scary stunt, the camera shows a different stuntman doing the hard work. It becomes a funny joke. Harry looks cool, the camera cuts to a stunt double getting dirty and hurt, and then it cuts back to Harry looking perfectly clean.

But my by far favorite part is how most of the stunt doubles are girls, and presumably American girls…

The Final Verdict: Which Video Wins?

Here is the quick breakdown of how they stack up:

  • Third Place: “Dance No More” — Super fun to watch for the dancing, but it doesn’t really have a storyline.
  • Second Place: “Aperture” — Amazing acting and beautiful camera tricks, but it’s very dark and serious.
  • First Place: “American Girls” — The winner! (my personal favorite)

Why “American Girls” wins: Personally, I think this video is an absolute masterpiece and easily the best one of the trio. Every single time it ends, I instantly find myself hitting the replay button just to catch all the tiny background details on the fake movie set. It turns out I’m not the only one obsessed with it, either. If you look at what the audience is saying online, the response has been overwhelmingly positive. People are loving how Harry can pull off massive, dangerous Hollywood stunts while still keeping his signature goofy sense of humor. It is just incredibly fun, re-watchable, and the perfect music video. I do love all of them, though, and making this ranking was extremely difficult.
