The gender thought gap. Bigger than we thought.

By Lucia Yepes-Puerto & Emma Papangelopoulou (Y10)

You thought women had it harder? That proves you are a woman. Studies show that women think an average of 57’000 thoughts per day, while men a meager 3. Can you imagine only thinking 3 thoughts in a whole entire day??? These poor boys.

To put this to the test, we conducted an investigation where we spoke with a man and then talked to ourselves, as we are both women. Just as we suspected, the man shared his thought on football for the full 10 minutes of the conversation. By contrast, we shared over 4 thoughts with ourselves when speaking to our reflection in a puddle.

However, men do get some credit. As per our “research”, they surpass horses in thoughts by a whopping one (1). Perhaps we underestimated the intelligence of horses. Either way, the gender thought gap is a very real problem that must be addressed immediately.

We are calling YOU to action. Expose your local men to feminist literature, femcel cinema and riot grrl music to help them expand their intellectual horizons. And always remember: it’s one small thought for women, but one giant academic concept for mankind.

Write a thought in the comments, we will share it with a man.
