The social media we all know and love has gotten an exciting new addition, and I’m here to talk about it!

While Facebook is still the biggest social network it is slowing down due to other types of social media such as Snapchat and Instagram. Because of this they are trying to come up with new ideas and so they made a bold move of copying YouTube in a new and uncomfortable manner.
A 360 Facebook video is one you can watch all the degrees of a circle by scrolling from side to side (but then sadly missing something in the opposite angle). Facebook’s engineer, Maher Saba, explained “In the future, imagine watching 360 videos of a friend’s vacation to a small village in France or a festival in Brazil — you’ll be able to look around and experience it as if you were there,” this is very true, but that friend would have to own the special contraption to record in 360 degrees, which he would very probably not have, (unless he had money to waste).
360 videos are a step in the future, according to YouTube. So the Facebook Innovation Office did what they do best, doing exactly the same thing.
The only complication for Facebook is finding people who want to film in 360 as well as 360 camera manufacturers, that would be affordable (impossible) as well as easy to use (more expensive to make).
In conclusion, the Facebook 360 Videos feature is thought to be a step in the future, but needs improvement for filming accessibility as well as a comfortable viewing system.
