O beautiful moon, mistress of the night
How you bright’n the sky with your silver light!
A cradle moon just a few nights ago,
Your round face beams now on the world below.
Wandering alone through the starry space
You bathe the world in your shimmering grace,
Before slipping behind a veil of cloud,
To re-emerge and shine so bright and loud.
And I marvel at your smile so serene
Thinking of my loved ones by whom you’re seen.
Young or old, rich or poor, near or so far,
You watch over them wherever they are.
Fond mem’ries fill me and my heart feels warm
To know we are linked by your lofty form.
