On the 4th December, we had the honour of welcoming Sir Chris Bonington, one of Britain’s finest mountaineers and a true expert in his field. His impeccable career includes 19 expeditions to the Himalayas, 4 of which were to the giant; Everest. He is also the first to ever climb the south face of Annapurna. From his adventures he has written many books and chronicles; his latest being “Ascent”. Due to his success on the ascent of Everest, he was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 1976, knighted in 1996 for his immense contribution to the sport and in 2010, he was appointed Commander of the Royal Victorian Order.
