Letters & Literature Evening

Dear Epistolarians (ones who practise the art of letter writing),

On the 25th of January, only 8 days away, Rackam Café will be hosting an evening of reading letters.

Please bring one along and share it with an appreciative audience. Whether it is something personal, received from a relative or friend or lover, or something you found online that caught your eye, warmed your heart or sent a tear down your cheek.

Please note, this is NOT a school event. There will be no teachers or assistants supervising, so if you are under 18 bring mum or dad.

The event starts at 6pm and ends at 8pm. You are not obliged to stay all evening but it is encouraged as it will be lively and entertaining! The bar is also open with drinks and nibbles available to buy. Address: Route de Genève 7, 1291 Commugny, Switzerland

If you don’t have a particular letter in mind but still want to get involved, please see the attached website Letters of Note . There you will find examples from Gene Wilder’s letter to Willy Wonka director Mel Stuart, asking for pockets on his jacket, to William Safire’s speech, In Event of Moon Disaster, in case the Apollo 11 astronauts were stranded on the moon.

See you there!
