George and Luca, two Year 11 students from La Chataigneraie, will swim across Lac Leman (5km), in June, to raise funds on behalf of the Tanzania Team. They have been training during the past months and hope to raise as much as possible. All the money raised will be donated to the NGOs below. They are seeking sponsorship from the whole community. This year the Tanzania Team is hoping to raise money for the following NGOs, through a number of initiatives:
- DARE (http://www.darewomensfoundation.org/) This grassroots NGO based in Tanzania, works directly with local communities to empower women and children through formal and informal education, conservation, and various support groups. During our trip we will be volunteering with the NGO.
- WATU School is a small NGO based in Northern Tanzania (http://www.watusecondaryschool.com/) whose mission to offer able young people from financially disadvantaged backgrounds the opportunity to realize their academic potential.
