Petra Volpe: ‘The Divine Order,’ Filmmaking, Feminism

 

Last Friday The Update sat down with Petra Volpe, a Swiss screenwriter and director. She is best known for her most recent feature ‘The Divine Order,’ about Women’s suffrage in Switzerland, which won ‘Best Screenplay’ in the Swiss Film awards and was Switzerland’s nomination for ‘Best Foreign Film’ at the Oscars.

In this interview she discusses her inspiration for the film, conservative attitudes in Switzerland, and the importance of telling ‘female’ stories.
