In Remembrance of M. Jean-Michel Santal

Very sadly, M. Jean-Michel Santal, one of our Service Technique team, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 8th, 2018, whilst on holiday in Brazil with his wife, Jelena.

Jean-Michel had been working at La Châtaigneraie since November 1st, 2008. He worked as a technician in maintenance and also helped out in the mornings and afternoons, upholding the calm during the bedlam of rush hour. A carpenter by training, one of Jean-Michel’s greatest pleasures was contributing his skills in craftsmanship to mend and create items around the school campus. He worked closely with teachers during the Leman room 2.09 transformation project, helping create a comfortable environment, in particular a beautiful wooden reading bench for the benefit of all students. He also worked with both teachers and students in the art and theatre departments for various projects and performances.

Passionate about boats, Jean-Michel actively participated in regattas on Lac Leman. He was also a member of a darts club and played rugby with other members of the school. As a long-time, active member of our community, we all share the sadness of his passing and he will be missed by his colleagues.

Secondary Reception is currently holding a book where you can leave messages of condolence for Jean-Michel’s family.
