Shot down and captured by Vietnamese forces in 1965, US veteran Porter Halyburton spent the following 8 years imprisoned in the infamous ‘Hanoi Hilton’. At age 24, it was assumed he was killed in action and his family held a memorial service for him, the tombstone of which still stands in his backyard.
