What is YFS?
Recently a group of La Châtaigneraie students – together with Ms Lalaz and Mr Dijkstra – attended the 6th
Youth Forum Switzerland (YFS) in Zug. The hosting school was the International School of Zug and Lucerne
(ISZL). Eight-hundred students from different European schools and approximately 40 global changemakers
attended and inspired the youth present. Global topics included artificial intelligence (AI), global warming and
more.
What was discussed?
Topics discussed related to the UN’s 17 global goals, including, “cars of tomorrow”, the “power of women”, the
“power of youth”, “youth in politics”, “youth empowerment”, “circular economy” and “social media”. A debate on
“cancel culture” and a panel on “humanitarian aid” also occurred. In addition, there were several presentations
delivered by the company Impact Labs, which promotes access to opportunities. They had a range of
presentations from biology in the world of tech, LGBTQ, mental health, being active in politics and more.
Other panels and discussions were “finding your purpose”, which explored happiness in what you do and what
you want, and “Going beyond science and tech”, on the process by which treatment for inflammatory bowel
disease was developed.
Who and why was the Youth Forum Switzerland started?
Previous students from ISZL who had visited the Davos Economic Forum in 2017 founded The Youth Forum
Switzerland. Originally inviting only one speaker from Davos to their school to inspire and motivate students,
they continued to invite more and more speakers and later founded YFS. The goal of YFS is to help students,
and global “changemakers” to connect, learn from each other, and to explore current global problems and
potential solutions for them.
Summary
From the inspired founders who proved that youth can make a difference in confronting current challenges the
world faces, to the fascinating discussions by the “changemakers”, attending the Youth Forum Switzerland
was a great and fascinating experience where we were able to meet and to communicate with other schools
and organisations. And, thankfully, there will be the opportunity for students to attend again next year.

Qu’est-ce que le YFS ?
Récemment, un groupe d’élèves de La Châtaigneraie, accompagné par Mme Lalaz et M. Dijkstra, a participé
au 6ème Youth Forum Switzerland (YFS) à Zug. L’école hôte est l’école internationale de Zug à Lucerne (ISZL).
800 élèves de différentes écoles européennes et une quarantaine d’acteurs du changement mondial ont
participé à l’événement et ont inspiré les jeunes présents. Parmi les sujets mondiaux abordés figuraient
l’intelligence artificielle (IA), le réchauffement climatique, et plus.
Quels ont été les sujets abordés ?
Les sujets abordés étaient liés aux 17 objectifs mondiaux de l’ONU, notamment les “voitures de demain”, le
“pouvoir des femmes”, le “pouvoir des jeunes”, les “jeunes en politique”, “l’autonomisation des jeunes”,
“l’économie circulaire” et les “médias sociaux”. Un débat sur la “culture de l’annulation” et un panel sur “l’aide
humanitaire” ont également eu lieu. En outre, plusieurs présentations ont été faites par la société Impact Labs,
qui favorise l’accès aux opportunités. Ils avaient une série de présentations sur la biologie dans le monde de
la technologie, LGBTQ+, la santé mentale, être actif en politique et plus encore. D’autres panels et discussions
ont portés sur le thème “Trouver son but”, qui explorait le bonheur dans ce que l’on fait et ce que l’on veut, et
“Aller au-delà de la science et de la technologie” sur le processus par lequel un traitement pour les maladies
inflammatoires de l’intestin a été développé.
Qui et pourquoi le Youth Forum Switzerland a-t-il été créé ?
Des étudiants de l’ISZL qui avaient visité le Forum économique de Davos en 2017 ont fondé le Youth Forum
Switzerland. N’invitant au départ qu’un seul conférencier de Davos dans leur école pour inspirer et motiver les
étudiants, ils ont continué à inviter de plus en plus de conférenciers et ont ensuite fondé le YFS. L’objectif du
YFS est d’aider les étudiants, et les “changemakers” mondiaux à se connecter, à apprendre les uns des autres,
et à explorer les problèmes mondiaux actuels et les solutions potentielles pour eux.
Résumé
Des fondateurs inspirés qui ont prouvé que les jeunes peuvent faire la différence en affrontant les défis actuels
auxquels le monde est confronté, aux discussions fascinantes des “changemakers”, la participation au Youth
Forum Switzerland a été une expérience formidable et fascinante où nous avons pu rencontrer et communiquer
avec d’autres écoles et organisations. Et heureusement, les étudiants auront l’occasion d’y participer à
nouveau l’année prochaine.
