Impossible Creatures is a captivating and moving book, with magical creatures you’ve never heard of by Katherine Rundell. It has been named the 2023 Waterstones book of the year. It’s about a boy and a girl who start an adventure alone and end up with lots of friends who helped them.
The boy, called Christopher, who lives with his dad and has a special touch with animals, visits his grandfather and thinks that he will have a relaxing time, but not a lot of fun. The girl, named Mal, who lives in the magic world of Archipelago, is suddenly being hunted by a mysterious man with one task to do: Kill Mal. Together Christopher and Mal become the best of friends and travel with some help from strangers to hide from the killer and figure out why the Archipelago is slowly dying. Will they be able to escape and find out who sent the killer? Will they be able to save the magical world of impossible creatures?
I love this book because there were lots of unexpected twists and I never knew what was coming next. Indeed, it was really intriguing. I also loved the Archipelago and the whole story line in general.
I recommend this novel to people who like the fantasy genre, including magical creatures and people, but who also appreciate a bit of murder mystery.
In conclusion, I love this book and I really recommend it. It’s full of magic, adventure and surprises.
