Cancer Support Switzerland is an organization dedicated to supporting cancer patients throughout their journey. With cancer affecting more than 20 million people annually, facing a diagnosis can often seem overwhelming and isolating. Cancer Support Switzerland helps to resolve that, their main objective ensuring that no one faces cancer alone by providing guidance, resources, and support every step of the way. Their mission is to empower individuals and families with the care and assistance they require, along with guaranteeing that every one reflects on their journey with strength and hope.

Originally called ESCA Cancer Support, Cancer Support Switzerland was founded in 1999 with just 6 original members. In 2003, the organization became more well known and they welcomed their first patients. Since then, it has flourished, attracting more and more volunteers every year, and expanding its range of activities, group sessions and counselling services across the globe. In 2025, Cancer Support Switzerland celebrated their 25th anniversary, reflecting on how far the organization, along with its patients and members, has come.

Cancer Support Switzerland offers a wide variety of activities. Whether it is sport, meditation, talks, or creative workshops, there is something for everyone. Some examples of their services include meditation sessions, online yoga classes, creative workshops such as art, group walks, counselling, and support groups. During group sessions, people who have been previously diagnosed with Cancer offer advice and share their own experiences and journey. Additionally, the organization offers opportunities and support for teenagers who have had members of their family that have been diagnosed with cancer. Their services are available online and in person in the cantons of Zurich, Geneva, and Vaud.

Cancer Support Switzerland is a strong community with more than 100 volunteers and members from around the world. Sometimes seeking help or simply talking with someone can help make difficult situations feel more manageable. The volunteers and members of staff working for Cancer Support Switzerland enjoy supporting those in need, helping cancer patients to feel like they get the aid and support they require. When facing cancer, no one should feel alone, and Cancer Support Switzerland ensures that “ No one walks alone because together, every step counts”.

If you are interested in helping, Cancer Support is always looking for more volunteers. They would especially love to hear younger voices raising awareness on cancer and the support that the organization provides to families and patients.People can also contribute by raising funds through activities such as bake sales, charity games, or community events.
