Concert Review: Olivia Dean’s First Time in Zurich

Emma Rassi (Y8)

Oliva Dean stunned Zurich on May 20th with her incredible show at Hallenstadion, and it was incredible. The British sensation brought her “Art of Loving” tour to Switzerland, and it charmed the crowd. If you missed it, here’s the full review.

It’s crazy to think how even just over a year ago, she was still playing in small venues, now she’s selling out stadiums in places she’s never been before! One of the main reasons she became such a sudden hit was her success at the Grammys and her record-breaking album “The Art of Loving” and also her very well-known single “Man I need” which, if you haven’t heard before, I’m almost certain you live under a rock (just kidding though…). She is what a lot of people call TikTok famous. Even though many people know her songs outside of social media, it is one of the main reasons she blew up. Many people don’t even know that most of the audios are from her.

Walking into the stadium, you could already tell it was going to be an amazing night. Everyone was dressed head-to-toe in polka dots and lace, and the vibe was just mesmerising. It was just pure girlhood and love. Hearing thousands of people screaming “Dive” and “The hardest part” was probably the best moment of my life. She made everyone in the audience feel like her best friend by laughing at their signs and responding to them (multiple times) when they screamed that they love her. It was truly incredible.

During the concert, she changed outfits three times. She came out in a beautiful, colourful flower dress that was stunning. Then, when she went onto the little platform in the middle of the crowd to sing a few songs, she changed into a beautiful, large, white, feathered skirt and a white tank top. This was probably my favorite outfit just because I really thought it captured the tour. After that, when she came back onto the main stage for her last couple of songs, she changed into her final outfit, which was a beautiful silver tight dress with short tassels attached at the bottom to make it very fun to watch her dance in.

The live band was absolutely next level, featuring so many different instruments and singers who turned the entire stadium into a giant party. Hearing her sing through the whole setlist with flawless live vocals proved exactly why she belongs on the world’s biggest stages now. By the time the final show ended, I was just staring in awe. Olivia Dean didn’t just put on a show; she gave so many people (me included) a night they will remember forever.
