Upcoming events: Second-hand bike & second-hand kid’s clothes sale

Where/When: 24th of March 2024 at the Primary building

Bike Sale:

The Parent Teacher Organization’s Parents4Planet is organising yet another yearly event for the Ecolint La Chat community! Do you have a bike that you haven’t been using lately or you might have grown out of or /become too old for that bike? Look no further, the annual bike sale is once again being organized by the Parents4Planet team on Sunday 24th of March 2024!

At the bike sale, you’ll be able to bring in your old bike which you might not be using anymore and either donate it (where they will be donated for World Refugee Day on June 20th) or just sell it off to fellow parents, students and other individuals that might come to the event. You’ll then be able to collect your money at the end of the event!

  • “What if my bike is damaged?” We’ve got you covered! A small maintenance shop will be on campus ground to assist you with minor bike repairs! (Note that we will not be able to do repairs on the bike but perhaps do some maintenance of some minor issues)

Furthermore, the bike repair service will also be providing repair assistance for people who do not wish to sell their bikes and will also be offering fun teaching lessons on how to carry out minor repairs themselves!

Instructions:

  • Bring your bike on the day at 9:30. (Make sure it’s ready to ride! If your bike has minor issues you can bring it to the maintenance area of the sale)
  • If you’d like to keep the proceeds make sure you label the bike with your first name and last name, your telephone number and the price of the bike. (If you have Twint and would like buyers to use that payment option please mention it on the label)
  • You’ll finally be able to gather your money (or unsold bikes) at the end of the event!

*If you choose to donate your bike it will be stored by CAS students and donated in June for World Refugee Day to refugees in the local area in need!

Clothes Sale:

Along with the bike sale, another charity event is also organized by Parents4Planet! A secondhand primary kid’s clothes sale will be set up alongside the bike sale at the same time and place! At this sale, you can bring your old kids’ clothes and shoes to be sold! You will be able to drop off the clothes from the 11th of March to the 22nd of March and collect the proceeds at the end of the event.

In addition the social impact group “Coucoudre” will be available on-site to take away any clothing items that require repairing or alteration even if you’re not donating or selling!

Instructions:

  • You can drop your items in boxes in front of the Primary building from the 11th March to the 22nd March. (Make sure they are cleaned, in good condition!)
  • If you choose to donate the clothes to the sale the proceeds will go towards making the school more sustainable! Otherwise, you can keep the proceeds for yourself! (Make sure you label the clothes with your first name and last name, your telephone number and the price of the bike. (If you have Twint and would like buyers to use that payment option please mention it on the label))
  • “Voila” you’ll be able to gather your money (or unsold items*) at the end of the event!

*If the item has been donated to the sale but unsold it will be given to local charity organizations.

Once again the event will be held on the 24th of March 2024 outside the Primary building! We hope to see as many of you as possible at these PTA and student-organized events as you may get a chance to get some great deals and also support the La Chat community in becoming a more sustainable and environmentally friendly campus. You will also be able to make a kind donation to refugees for World Refugee Day held on June 20th 2024
