A huge thank you to Lord Alfred Dubs for coming on 18/10/2024 to discuss his remarkable life.
Lord Dubs was born in December 1932 in Prague and was among the Czech children saved from the Nazis through the Kindertransport. He remained unaware of his rescuer’s identity until 1988, when a family member recognised his name on Esther Rantzen’s “This Is Your Life”, which featured Nicholas Winton, an English former stockbroker who facilitated the escape of 669 children from Nazi-occupied Prague. Alf Dubs advocated for Winton to receive recognition for his heroic actions, leading to Winton’s eventual knighthood. Lord Dubs is a British Labour politician and a former Member of Parliament.
