Book review of J.R.R Tolkien’s “The Return of the King”

review by Beatrice Kellet (8C) from our Middle School Writers’ Corner!

The Return of the King is the third book in the Lord of The Rings series. The books in the Lord of the Rings series are: The Fellowship of the Ring, the Two Towers, and The Return of the King .

The Return of the King is a story telling the adventure of the battle between good and evil. The book is an inspiring novel about life before the time of mankind. In this version of Middle-earth  it has elves, dwarves, wizards, hobbits, orcs …

Middle-earth is a peaceful land, but something stirs up in the eastern land of Mordor. The mysterious  Eye of Mordor sees everyone and everything – and that is why the Fellowship of the Ring is created to go on a quest to Mordor to save Middle-earth. The darkness spreads across Middle-earth consuming everything in its path; the Fellowship only has one chance and it is fading away.

The only place where the Ring can be destroyed is engulfed in dark magic.

Fun facts:

THE BOOKS EXTENDS INTO 3 MOVIES

One being 4 hours long!

It took 280 Million dollars to make all three movies

The entire film project took 8 YEARS!

This series is for 12 – 16  year olds because it has some violence – ok, a lot – but in general it is very accessible, depictive fantasy literature and has inspired thousands of kids to commit to a promise !

I give this book 5 stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐!
